Seagate's storage disc for digital video recorder

BANGALORE: Seagate Technology, has announced that its U Series disc

will be storage device in Zinwell's digital video recorder (DVR), a promise to

provide disk drive solutions for consumer solutions.

Seagate offers a variety of testing, integration and mechanical analysis

services to assist in qualifying drive-capable consumer electronics (CE)

devices. These services, part of the company's CETEC (Consumer Electronics

Testing & Engineering Center) are available to key OEM customers such as

Zinwell as part of Seagate's partnership qualification business model.

"Leveraging its core disc drive technology for the home CE market,

Seagate has scored yet another CE win with Zinwell," said Seagate senior

vice president of worldwide sales and marketing Joel Stead. "With the

end-to-end relationships nurtured through its unique CETEC processes and

services, Seagate maintains its advantage over other disc drive makers as the

premium provider of added value services for CE customers."

engineering team has worked closely with our engineers to test and develop our

consumer products. Leveraging Seagate's disc drive technology with the unique

entertainment."

Zinwell's DVR allows you to capture television shows on a hard drive and

watch them whenever you want. It can be a personal assistant to you when it

comes to changing channels or recording your favorite programs. Other features

include the ability to pause, forward, rewind and instantly replay television

shows as they are broadcast.

The U Series disc drive family is designed specifically for use in consumer

electronics, Internet appliances, volume PCs and terminal-based environments.

Featuring its exclusive "sound barrier technology" (SBT), Seagate's U

Series is among the world's quietest hard drives for mainstream desktop

computers and Personal Video Recorders. The U Series is available in a unique

consumer electronics configuration, the U Series AV, optimized for superior A/V

streaming, quiet data seeks and reduced power use. The U Series features a

5,400-rpm spindle speed for an internal transfer rate exceeding 41 Mbytes per

second and the Ultra ATA/100 interface. The U Series incorporates Seagate's

3D-defense system, including SeaTools, SeaShell, SeaShield and G-Force

protection.
