NEW DELHI: Seagate Technology unveils Savvio 10K.2 and Barracuda ES to join the

industry's most celebrated range of enterprise solutions. Complementing the

recently announced Cheetah 15K.5 series disc drive, Seagate's new Savvio 10K.2

and Barracuda ES drives are optimized for a variety of storage requirements in

the enterprise.

Sherman Black, senior vice president and general manager, Seagate, Enterprise
Computing, said, “The enterprise continues to serve as the backbone of storage

for the world's data, with an information reach that extends from online content

on PCs and notebooks, to information stored on PVRs, gaming systems, and

personal hand-held devices. Seagate's latest solutions provide a significant

boost in capacity and reliability that far exceed prior generations in meeting

the needs of our OEM and channel customers who in turn serve IT professionals.”

Seagate's second-generation 2.5-inch enterprise class disc drive, the Savvio
10K.2, delivers high I/O transaction performance with world-record 1.6 million

hour MTBF reliability and up to 146GB capacity. With ultra-low power consumption

that has dropped an average of 15 per cent over its prior generation, and a size

that is 70 per cent smaller than conventional 3.5-inch drives, the Savvio 10K.2

makes possible the integration of more drives into smaller chassis sizes to

enable storage systems to run cooler, faster, and more reliably than ever.

The Barracuda ES enables the cost-efficient business-critical 'infrastructure'
build-out, delivering the largest capacity hard drive to the datacenter. It

targets storage solutions addressing today's growing applications, including

maximum capacity servers, rich media content, reference and compliance data, and

data protection schemes such as disk-to-disk, virtual tape, snapshots and

virtualization.
