Seagate opens India office

NEW DELHI: Seagate, which offers Internet infrastructure storage technology,

has opened its first Indian office in New Delhi. The new office would deal in

business development, customer support and marketing activities. The office will

be located at The International Trade Tower, Nehru Place, New Delhi. Sharad

Srivastava, Seagate's Country Manager for India will head the office and lead

the business development management, field application engineering and

administrative staff.

Seagate vice-president, Asia Pacific, Sales and Marketing, Don Kennedy said

that as the need for storage expanded beyond the traditional PC market into

emerging markets like Consumer Electronics (CE), Storage Area Networking (SAN)

and server appliances, Seagate has continued to move forward to take advantage

of these opportunities.

He also said that Seagate is by far the leading provider of storage solutions

in India. According to an IDC report, Seagate has the highest market share of 70

per cent in the Indian disc drive market. Kennedy said that in future the

company plans to hopes to see its HDD storage products being used in personal

video recorders, Internet caching and audio jukeboxes.
