Sea Infonet organizes dealer meet

KOLKATA, INDIA: In a bid to consolidate its channel presence across eastern India and recognize dealers for outstanding performance in the anti-virus space, Sea Infonet organized an award ceremony for Kaspersky dealers in Kolkata. This was conducted in association with Zoom Technologies.

“We started the Kaspersky award last year, which turned out to be a huge success. This year, we have come up with various incentive schemes recognizing the sincere efforts of our Kaspersky dealers. Last fiscal year, we received an excellent response, as Kaspersky sales increased. We hope to see a similar performance by them this year as well,” said Biswajeet Saha, Joint Director, Sea Infonet.

The session inaugurated by Aadil Haveliwala, VP, Zoom and QA Tapia, GM—Business Development, Zoom. The award also featured Pawan Jajodia, President, Compass as the guest speaker.

Congratulating the efforts made by the dealers to popularize Kaspersky in the anti-virus space, Haveliwala said, “Today, Kaspersky has achieved the number one position in terms of sales across India, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the dealers. The end-user segment accounts for over 60 percent of its growth while the corporate sector contributes to about 30 percent. This year, we will focus on increasing our sales further while improvising on the research and development programs.”

As dealers rejoiced with incentives awarded to the top performers, Sea Infonet gave away prizes worth Rs 4 lakh, which included watches, TV sets, washing machines, refrigerators, etc.

Also, speaking about the plans of Kaspersky for this FY, Haveliwala said, “Soon, we are coming up with new editions of the anti-virus, which is the 2010 version and a special package for the enterprise segment.”

The anti-virus major, after achieving robust sales last FY is now concentrating on having an edge over its competitors by innovating its editions and coming up with new licensing plans. The new version will have an enhanced user interface with default settings and advanced options for users. Also, the company has claimed that it has improvised on its heuristic scanning features, virus outbreak and detection reports have been made faster from its Moscow laboratory.

“Existing Kaspersky users can upgrade to the new edition free of cost and no charges will be applicable. With newer varieties of virus outbreaks gaining momentum, an advanced mode of heuristic scanning with a faster outbreak report is the need of the hour. Kaspersky Lab has ensured these features,” he added.

Also, the anti-virus major is now concentrating on the enterprise front

“We have gained enough space in the end-user segment. Now, it is time for us to focus on the enterprise customers. We are soon coming up with a new edition for the enterprise level, where up to 25 licenses can be bundled in a pack. Currently, there are five licenses in the offering and we plan to increase it further, analyzing the needs of the enterprise networking environment,” Tapia said, commenting on the dynamics of the enterprise networking security.
