BANGALORE: US based SDG Corporation, provider of enterprise and e-security solutions, will be opening a development center in Bangalore in the next four months. According to country manager of the company for India, Sriram Potti, the center will employ around 20 to begin with and go up to 100 within a year of operation.

"We already have a development center in Noida, where we have around 55 employees. We hope to scale this upto 200 people in the next two years time. We also have plans to establish a technology research lab which will act as proof of concept center for our clients along with a QA Center of Excellence in India," said Potti. The company will invest close to $1 million and $500,000 respectively in the two centers, said Potti adding that the numbers had not yet been worked out for the development center in Bangalore.

The company also has plans of setting up a sales and marketing operation in the country. At present, the development work handled out of India, which is valued close to $600,000, is totally driven by US clients, though Potti has big plans of bringing in an Indian share soon.

"We want to create a brand name through marketing and evangelizing before we plunge into full time sales. We think there is a huge market in semi-government and SME segments where IT investments are just beginning. Consequently, we will be focusing on these segments," he said.

He added that the company hopes to increase the contribution of the Indian development work to more than a million dollars in the next year, 50 percent of which he hopes will be contributing by the Indian market. The company, which has two development centers in the US and a turnover of $10 million last year, expects a growth of 15 percent on the turnover this year.
