BANGALORE: To block the automatic updation of systems using Windows XP with Service Pack 2, software giant Microsoft has posted a script on its Web site. Said an online report.
System administrators can use this script to block or unblock specific PCs from receiving SP2 via Windows Automatic Update or the Windows Update Web site. Creating a comma-delimited file that lists each desktop or server can use the script, by name, along with a "b" for block or "u" for unblock.
According to Microsoft, this script uses the StdRegProv class of the Windows Management Instrumentation Registry provider to enable or disable access to SP2 via either of those update mechanisms.
You script code is available here, can be copied from and pasted into Notepad, then run as a .vbs file.
