Scott McNealy to visit India in May

BANGALORE: Scott McNealy, chairman and founder of Sun Microsystems, is expected to visit India in the second week of May. He would be visiting Mumbai to participate in Sun’s first two-day CXO event in India called “Technovate.”

Speaking to CyberMedia News about the event, Baba Sam, marketing director, Sun Microsystems, said, “This event is meant for CXOs of our customer companies and the program will feature keynotes and participation from McNealy and top executives of Sun’s top Indian customers. ”

He added that the Indian market is important for the company, and Sun Microsystems India acknowledged this by according the status of a GEM or Geographically Established Market in July last year. The theme at Technovate 2007 is “India: The next big idea.” The company intends to conduct this event every year.

The company has been extending its reach in tier- two and -three cities directly and through its strategic regional partner programs. Sam said that the target is to grow twice that of the market.
