SCIT to develop KM soln for ParTecs

Pune: Italian software company ParTecs Participatory Technologies has entrusted the students of Pune-based Symbiosis Center for Information Technology (SCIT) with a major development project. ParTecs offers software- related services to political and social organizations, national and transnational, governmental and non-governmental.

ParTecs' product ParTecs 1.0 enables sharing of knowledge amongst a body of users, typically NGOs or government organizations. ParTecs SLR offers two-way communication services that enable members and representatives of international organizations and networks to complement their in-person meetings.

"SCIT is working on a component of the company's flagship product ParTecs SLR 1.0 dealing with participatory knowledge management (PKB). Nine of its senior students are developing this using Open Source technology," said SCIT director Shaila Kagal. Most of the students are now working on a payable basis with the company. According to Kagal, the company has decided to establish a subsidiary in Pune.
