Schneider Electric, with Xantrex, specializes in inverters and gateways to solar and wind plants that convert the direct current produced by “clean” generators such as photovoltaic panels or wind turbines into alternating current which is required by electronic equipment and the electricity grid.

“The new renewable solutions complement the existing Schneider Electric integrated solutions making energy safe, reliable, efficient, productive and green for our customers from plant to plug,” he said.

The renewable business is poised for continued high growth. Demand is expected to remain strong, driven mainly by increasing costs of fossil energies, sensitivity to environmental concerns and financial incentives, the press release said.

In India, the Government has taken a major step towards driving sustainable development with the announcement of the ‘Jawahar Lal Nehru National Solar Mission’ targeting 20,000MW of installed solar power by 2022. The programme further promotes off grid applications reaching 2000 MW by 2022. It also aims at deploying 20 Million solar lighting systems for rural areas.

Schneider Electric’s Xantrex range of products which have been launched in India consist of Change Controllers, MPPT Solar Change Controllers, Solar Invertors / Chargers, Grid Tie Inverters and Off Grid & Hybrid Inverter Chargers. These products will be distributed through a nation-wide distribution channel and supported by Schneider Electric’s nation-wide service network, the release added.
