SC rejects Satyam founder's bail plea

NEW DELHI, INDIA: In a major setback to Satyam Computers founder Ramalinga Raju, who is in jail in connection with the multi-crore financial scandal, the Supreme Court today dismissed his bail application.

The bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, which heard the bail application today, observed that “when serious crimes are committed, people are bound to be in jail.”

Raju had cited health reasons in his bail application. He said he is undergoing treatments for cardiac problem and hepatitis. However, the apex court observed that the accused is getting proper medical treatment.
