Saxena to head Airtel's mobile ops in Delhi, NCR

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Indian telecom major Bharti Airtel on Sunday announced the appointment of Sanjeev Kumar Saxena as the new chief executive officer (CEO) — Delhi & NCR, Mobile Services.

The company, which recently completed the acquisition of Kuwaiti telecom player Zain's Africa assets, has operations in 18 countries across Asia and Africa.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Sanjeev can rightfully be called a Bharti Airtel veteran having spent 15 years with the organization, said a press release. Prior to this assignment, he handled varied leadership profiles in Airtel, as the CEO of Upper North (Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir) and COO of Orissa circle.

While accepting the new responsibility, Sanjeev said Delhi and NCR is a highly competitive and dynamic market where Bharti Airtel is the leading mobile service provider. “My goal would be to sustain our leadership position and to lead the launch of 3G services for our customers in this market,” he added.
