NEW DELHI: SavaJe Technologies Inc. today announced that it has entered into a partnership with HCL Technologies Ltd to enhance the engineering development resource for its Java ME-based operating platform.
The partnership with HCL will provide SavaJe with flexibility to scale its engineering operations to suit the requirements of operators and device manufacturers, while strengthening the development of its core platform roadmap.
George Grey, president and COO, at SavaJe Technologies, said: "The mobile
industry is an intensively competitive environment, and as it continues to
evolve we are committed to the development of the SavaJe platform so that it
best serves our customers needs and allows us to grow our market share in
the mid-tier space. HCL has clearly demonstrated its ability to respond
swiftly and with empathy to our development needs since the beginning of our
relationship one year ago; our partnership provides SavaJe with both a
tactical and strategic solution to our burgeoning resourcing needs."
Pradeep Nair, vice president & head, Global Life Sciences Practice at HCL
America, said: "We are delighted that SavaJe has selected HCL as its
development partner. SavaJe is a true innovator in the mobile industry and
making its Java ME perform exceptionally well on a mid-tier, mobile handset
footprint is an incredible achievement and one we feel proud to be a part
of."
Eugenia Gillan, vice president of engineering, at SavaJe Technologies,
added: "As a rapidly growing business, we gave significant consideration to
how we could expand our engineering capabilities that would not only help
current customers but also maintain our ongoing development cycle. Working
with HCL has provided the ideal solution to our needs with the added benefit
of a cost efficient strategy. More importantly, it gives us the confidence
and reassurance of a partner that truly understands our needs."
SavaJe's partnership with HCL follows agreements with LG Electronics to
demonstrate its platform on handsets, and with Group Sense PDA to launch a
SavaJe-enabled multimedia 'candy bar' handset during 2006.
SavaJe is an advanced open operating platform for handsets, based on Sun
Microsystems' Java technology.
