BANGALORE: Satyam Computer Services has won a contract from Reuters UK for
software application maintenance and support services for the client's IS
applications. The contract allows Satyam to tap opportunities in newer
technology applications from other divisions and subsidiaries of Reuters
worldwide.
The project includes software support, maintenance and development services
for the information Systems (IS) department of Reuters. It would cover support
and maintenance of Reuters' core suite of applications, development of IS
applications, technologies that are related to mainframe, client server and Web
based applications, and 7x 24 support across the applications.
Reuters would transfer full responsibility for the applications maintenance
and support to Satyam. The projects would be executed from Reuters offices in
the UK and Satyam development centers in India and Basingstoke, the UK.
Satyam managing director B. Ramalinga Raju said, "We are delighted at
winning this prestigious contract from Reuters, against stiff global competition
that included large international consulting firms. The advantage we offered to
our client was our flexible outsourcing option coupled with the proven ability
of our people in a global environment."
Reuters IS Applications and Support manager Iain Burgess said, "We chose
Satyam because of their proven success in handling similar application support
projects for global customers. We also took into consideration the quality of
their processes, commitment, capability of their people and, of course, their
ability to quickly respond to our requirements."
Satyam's executive vice president and head of Europe operations, Anil Kekre,
said, "With our major presence in Europe we can now offer more direct,
customer-centric IT services with offshore savings. This was in alignment with
the requirement of Reuters. We will immediately be deploying 70 Satyam
associates to kick start the project both in the UK and India."
