The IT services company has mitigated its risk by continuing to increase its focus on the non-US markets. In the same spirit it is also looking at building some of its services with diverse capabilities.

Satyam has struck a deal with Caterpillar, a construction and mining equipment company. As per the deal Satyam will acquire Caterpillar's MR&CA intellectual property and assets for $60 million.

“In the complex business climate it is vital to not only understand our customers but also the challenges they face. With customer analysis through our new capabilities we can reach out to the market in which they operate, “ said V Srinivas, CFO, Satyam Computer Services.

“In our analysis customer analytics was one of the fastest growing areas and will open new opportunities especially in the emerging markets,” he said.

Satyam proposes to launch innovation centers in India, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific to accommodate Caterpillar’s MR&CA requirements. The facilities will also provide services to global companies in manufacturing, financial services and health care among others.

Satyam has also acquired S&V Management Consultants, Belgium-based Supply Chain Management consulting firm, for an all-cash purchase of 35.5 million dollars.

The firm develops supply chain strategy largely for manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies with a strength of 60 consultants. The acquisition will help Satyam to provide highly strategic counsel to customers, especially those who look for complete transformational solutions.
