MUMBAI: Leading private sector Internet services provider Satyam Infoway
Limited said it had set up a wholly-owned subsidiary to popularize on-line
learning in India.
"The potential for eLearning in India is so large that we decided to set
up a company to focus completely on it," Satyam Infoway CEO and managing
director R Ramaraj said in a statement late on Wednesday.
The subsidiary, Satyam Education Services Limited (SESL), has tied up with
Canada-based ISOPIA (www.isopia.com) for
its Integrated Learning Management System (ILMS) software, the statement said.
ISOPIA will set up one of its global learning centers in India, using
co-location facilities provided by Satyam Infoway.
SESL will offer the ILMS training solution on the Internet, the statement
said.
At end-June 2000, Satyam Infoway had more than 200,000 consumer Internet
subscribers. The Company's network serves 44 locations, covering more than 220
cities in India.
