Satyam opens GSC in Egypt

GIZA, EGYPT: Satyam Computer Services Ltd today announced the inauguration of its Global Solutions Center (GSC) in Egypt.

Inaugurating the center, Dr Tarek Kamel, the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said, "The presence of the GSC in Smart Village is a step towards achieving our goals for the local IT sector, and we are looking forward to having more projects of this kind in the future."

Located in Smart Village, Giza, the GSC is a joint undertaking by the Government of Egypt and Satyam and will train and deploy about 300 personnel.

The GSC, which spans 2,100 sq. meters will mainly house locals.

The GSC will serve as a near-shore to the Middle East and North Africa markets and also cater to the BPO, KPO and ITeS needs of European markets, tapping the availability of European language skills in Egypt.

B Rama Raju, co-founder and CEO of Satyam, said, "We are confident that our investments in the region will also benefit the local economy by way of increased job opportunities for the local population, as we are keen on hiring and training a significant number of locals. "

Raju also informed that Satyam is building world-class GSC across the world, in line with its strategy to strengthen its presence globally.
