Satyam expands in Australia

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Services Limited today strengthened its presence in Asia Pacific with the opening of a 150-seat development center in North Sydney. The center will serve as a regional solutions hub for Satyam.

Satyam already has development centers in Melbourne and York Street in the Sydney Central Business District.

“Australia is an important marketplace for Satyam and this new center will offer the same expertise and project management capabilities typified by our Australian operations,” said B Rama Raju, chief executive officer, Satyam.

“We are very pleased to establish this Regional Solutions Hub in Sydney, which will bolster our efforts to create development centers focused on data warehousing, enterprise applications and managed services,” said Deepak Nangia, country manager, Australia and New Zealand.

PP Shukla, high commissioner of India and Raju officially inaugurated the center.

Satyam also signed an agreement with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) earlier in the week to recruit information technology professionals from Australian universities.

Satyam plans to hire 50 graduates over the next three months and another 50 in the following year. With the additions Satyam’s Australian workforce will increase to 700.

Satyam began its operations in Australia in 2001 starting with 10 associates. Currently it has presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Brisbane.
