The league constituting the likes of CSC, EDS, IBM Global Solutions, Accenture and others post revenues in billion dollars, but Satyam does not intend to compete with them in terms of revenues, but in terms of market capitalization and the number of references given by analysts on the company.

Elaborating on this, Satyam Computer Services, director & senior VP, A S Murty said, "We want to wear the hat of being a system integrator providing end-to-end solutions to our customers. While companies like CSC, EDS, Accenture, etc., post revenues in billions of dollars, Satyam is aiming to be a $1 billion company during fiscal 2006. We don't intend to compete with the global top five in terms of revenues in the near future, but would certainly aim to be one of the top five global system integrators in about three years from now. This is in relation to the recognition received in achieving the market capitalization (presently around 11th position) that justifies our target."

He also says, "More number of analysts' references suggest our capabilities thereby fetching more business opportunities. We want to be referred by more analysts based on our performance."

According to Murty, in order to be a system integrator and offer end-to-end solutions, the company needs to provide various service offerings including consulting, infrastructure management services, BPO services, enterprise business solutions, and application design development and maintenance services.

"It's predominantly application design, development and maintenance that is fetching business for Indian companies so far, but companies are now gearing up to be an end-to-end solutions provider thereby building expertise in most of the service offerings," explained Murty.

He further explained that Satyam has a presence in most of the service offerings market, but needs to further strengthen its focus. "What we need and intend to do is to have more domain knowledge and relationship building managers who can talk the language of our customers. Domain knowledge of the respective verticals is essential as just technological expertise is not enough. We need to marry our technology with domain knowledge so as to, effectively service our customers. Relationship building managers are essential, as they should be available to our customers when in need and take care of the customers needs accordingly."

"Presently, we have a combination of service offerings being provided for some of our customers. But we are getting prepared to offer end-to-end solutions to our existing and new customers at a comparatively lower price range than what the top global companies offer."
