Sathguru, Florida Univ in MoU

HYDERABAD, INDIA: Sathguru Management Consultants, Hyderabad, a technology management services provider from Asia, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Florida,  one of America's public universities. Through the MoU, technologies developed at the University of Florida would be made available for commercialization through technology licensing and other commercialization initiatives in Asia.

K. Vijayaraghavan, CEO of Sathguru Management Consultants, commending the partnership stated. "We are very pleased and honored to have entered into this strategic partnership with University of Florida, one of the world's leading research institutions. This new partnership will leverage the capabilities of the University of Florida in sustainable technologies in agriculture, life sciences, and biotechnology, and would benefit the public across Asia."

The University of Florida is a recognized leader in creating technology based start-up companies. Over the years, some 50 biotechnology companies have already resulted from faculty research programmes. Last year alone, 14 companies were formed to commercialize research discoveries emerging from the university's laboratories. The scientists at the University of Florida generate 300 invention disclosures per year. It consistently ranks among the top ten universities in licensing. UF was awarded $574 million in sponsored research in 2008. Research at the university is diverse and range from health care to citrus production and even space research.

Over a quarter of a century, as per the press release, Sathguru Management Consultants has developed capabilities in providing strategic advisory, sector growth assessment, technology management, information technology services to public and private enterprises across the globe.

The MoU will result in a partnership that brings together resources and expertise from Sathguru and University of Florida to make available path-breaking sustainable technologies in agriculture, health care and other gamut's of life sciences, environment and clean technologies for the public good and commercial benefits in Asia.
