SAS rev jumps 2.2 p.c to $2.31 bn

MUMBAI, INDIA: SAS, a player in business analytics, achieved global revenue of $2.31 billion in 2009, up 2.2 per cent over 2008 results.

"Our continued growth in 2009 is further proof that investing in long-term relationships with customers and employees and maintaining a deep commitment to R&D pays," said CEO Jim Goodnight in a company statement.

Revenue from software sales alone jumped 3.3 per cent, said the statement.

SAS reinvested 23 per cent of 2009 revenue in R&D and ended the year with no layoffs due to economic pressures.

Analytics, customer intelligence, data integration and risk management solutions were the ones that grew the most, it said.

In India, SAS has continued to dominate the Advanced Analytics market with more than 50 per cent market share which is twice that of its nearest competitor.

Talking of this feat, Sudipta Sen, MD, SAS Institute (India) Pvt. Ltd, said, “The growth of Business Analytics market in India proves the necessity for organizations to use analytics as a strategic competitive differentiator.”

SAS' network of alliance and channel partners played an integral role in 25 per cent of new sales and half of the top 50 global deals, the company said.

The company's partners include global systems integrators such as Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte and Wipro Technologies.
