BANGALORE: SAS Institute has announced the launch of its "Beyond ERP" initiative in India. The company has developed a series of tools to enable organizations to leverage their ERP applications.

SAS country manager Gourish Hosangady said, "ERP applications such as SAP R/3 are powerful tools and house critical business data. However, in order to exploit the potential of such applications fully, it is important to turn data into usable information for intelligent decisions. Our current initiative is aimed at providing businesses with convenient means to do so. By leveraging existing data through activities like data warehousing, data mining and business intelligence, business users can drive their organizations forward."

First amongst the series of new product launches planned under the initiative is the SAS/ACCESS interface for R/3, release 2.0. Though the product is specifically targeted at those organizations using SAP AG R/3, it has the ability to access data stored in legacy systems and other sources. It enables users to do quick and multi-dimensional reporting, querying, modeling and forecasting.
