BANGALORE: Silicon Automation Systems Ltd. (SAS) has announced a new
corporate identity, renaming the company as Sasken Communication Technologies
Ltd.
Speaking to the press here while unveiling the new identity of the company,
chairman and CEO Rajiv C Mody said that the three major reasons for the change
in identity were re-alignment in business focus, need for a unique identity and
to protect the identity across global markets.
The company will move out of design automation business, "since the
growth we anticipate here is not big," said Mody. Sasken will focus on both
the products and services segments. It will develop products in the customer
premise equipment space and offer services in the area of networking. While
product areas will include broadband access, Internet access and mobile
software, services will include telecom access, IC design services and
verification.
Mody said that the company would float an IPO in the next 6-9 months.
"We would like to tap both the domestic and the US markets. But, we have
not decided the sequence," he added.
The company plans to open sales offices in Stockholm and a few cities in
North America. It has offices in the US, the UK, Canada and Japan.
