Sarin said he did not discuss the tax issue in the meeting. He added that the company would wait for the decision of the High Court on the issue.

According to sources, the meeting with the finance minister lasted for few minutes. “Sarin introduced about the Vodafone new foundation to the FM. There were no talks on the IT notice,” confirmed the source.

Vodafone has announced to establish a ‘Foundation in India’, focusing on projects associated with education of youths and development of higher skills. The telecom giant will invest $10 million to set up the foundation.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting Sarin said that the company has outlined a Capex of $2 billion to boost the mobile market in India.

“We have doubled out expenditure in India. Now we are spending $2 billion a year. We are strongly targeting to increase our subscriber base,” Sarin said.
