Held on the sprawling lawns of SAP Labs India Campus in the garden city this was the first time ever that SAP hosted its most premier technical conference TechEd '04 in India. The central theme of TechEd was SAP's NetWeaver platform, the foundation for Enterprise Services Architecture.

Participants could choose from a wide variety of Technical and Business Tracks, which were taken by technology experts and got a chance to meet up with key SAP partners and more importantly got a first-hand look at SAP's technology.

Delegates found the tracks to be quite useful, S. Kiran from Convergys said 'We find it very useful but we need some more information, like more explanation about things. I attended the NetWeaver track, the hands-on sessions are quite useful but some more time and explanation would have been better. I am a consultant by profession and I feel that NetWeaver and its components will be really useful for us, I have got an overview of what is what and will gain more knowledge as I work on it. My company plans to implement NetWeaver by December, it will help us integrate Java with SAP.'

Rajeshwari working as a SAP consultant with Satyam computers says 'I have got an idea about NetWeaver and its components after attending these sessions and I will soon start using it for my day-to-day work.'

According to Ganesh, a SAP consultant with Satyam 'NetWeaver is an emerging technology that can integrate various components, till now SAP did not have a Web component, NetWeaver gives a useful Web component and will make things interoperable. The sessions are very useful and I am very happy to be here, the hands-on sessions are quite useful but we would have appreciated more hands-on session.'

Delegates could choose to write one SAP NetWeaver certification examination, from the total 14 papers, free of cost. Out of the total of 890 who had enrolled for technical tracks around 500 registered themselves for the examination. A help desk for SAP NetWeaver Certificate Examination was also set up.

Companies like Satyam, IBM and Intel organized various contests and lucky winners went home with attractive prizes. With food counters, tea and coffee stalls all over the place delegates took a break under the warm winter sun on the lawns of SAP Labs India. All in all a very well organized and a very well received event, kudos to the entire team!
