The two companies are working towards providing a common development platform to their wide customer base worldwide.

SAP's Portal Development Kit will enable programmers to build applications for SAP's infrastructure software NetWeaver using Microsoft's Visual Studio .Net 2003 tools.

This is the first product that has been launched after the technical collaboration between the software makers. The companies are also working on tools that will enable better connectivity between Microsoft's BizTalk, Exchange, SharePoint applications and NetWeaver.

The main aim of this association is to offer interoperability between Microsoft Windows and SAP applications, informed Tim O'Brien, a senior product manager at Microsoft.
