SAP Labs India Localization Forum kicks off in B'lore

BANGALORE, INDIA: SAP Labs India inaugurated on Wednesday its sixth annual SAP Localization Forum - a two-day event offering over 500 SAP customers a platform to collaborate and share best practices across industry segments and solution areas.

In his keynote address, V.R. Ferose, senior vice-president and global head of SAP Globalization Services, spoke on customer-centricity, a key focus for SAP, besides the changing market trends and the growing importance of India as a market and a research and development center for SAP. "By constantly co-innovating with our customers, we deliver to them world-class solutions that are most suited to their local needs," said Ferose.

This was followed by a keynote address by Dharmarajan Krishnan, commissioner, Directorate General of Systems and Data, Central Excise and Customs, in which he highlighted how government was engaging with industry practitioners through ERP vendors and other channels, to make GST not just a 'best practice' but also the 'next practice' on taxes and make it a role model implementation that benefits industry, government and the end consumers.

The highlight of the day was the Best Custom Solution Contest, in which about 15 SAP customers demonstrated how solutions developed by them helped solve their unique business problems. The solutions, Master Data Consistency Analyzer - Basic Pay and Policy Administration by NTPC (in SAP HCM), Financial Statements as per Schedule VI of Companies Act by NTPC (in SAP Financials), and Customization for Ore Trucking Logistics by Sesa Goa (in SAP Logistics), were voted by the audience as those with highest value proposition.

At the event, Navaneet Mishra, vice-president, Globalization Services, SAP Labs India, said, "By providing our customers a platform to share their unique solutions with the community, we have enabled an Outside-In approach. SAP will introduce a few of the top notch customer created solutions into its own solution portfolio."
