BANGALORE: SAP AG signed the largest ever deal in India with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) for implementation of the ICE (Information Consolidation for Efficiency) Project. The deal, according to a release, is worth Rs 95 crore and is aimed at consolidating the IT efforts at ONGC through the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) package on SAP.

"The main objective of the ICE Project is to optimize and standardize business processes for integrated information availability. The ERP package will enable availability of information on real time basis and elimination of duplication of activities across business processes by capturing data at source point. This will in turn facilitate decision support, better operation control and efficient cost management", said ONGC Chairman & Managing Director Subir Raha.

SAP India President & Managing Director Alan Sedghi, said, "This deal with ONGC, the leader in the Upstream Oil & Gas industry in South East Asia, is the biggest deal for SAP India and the largest consulting deal for SAP Asia Pacific. While SAP India was already the dominant player in Downstream Oil & Gas industry, this deal consolidates SAP's dominance in the Upstream segment as well. ONGC's decision to adopt mySAP Oil & Gas Upstream solutions reconfirms SAP's deep industry knowledge and global vision of bringing industry specific business solutions to its customers."

The deal marks many firsts for SAP India. It is the first mySAP Oil and Gas Upstream implementation in India, the first mySAP SRM deal and implementation in India and the first mySAP PLM with Document Management implementation in this industry, in India. ONGC will benefit immensely by adopting the Best Business Practices provided in the mySAP solution evolved from SAP's close association with TOP 10 Oil & Gas Companies like Exxon-Mobil, Shell, Chevron-Texaco, Saudi Aramco etc. using SAP solutions.
