Santanu Paul to head Virtusa GDO

  CHENNAI: IT services Virtusa Corporation today announced the promotion of Santanu Paul as the head of Global Delivery Operations.

Paul previously held the position of general manager of the company's Hyderabad Advanced Technology Center; he will continue in that role as an additional responsibility.

"Santanu has been a critical member of our team for the last three years and has done an excellent job of leading our Hyderabad Advanced Technology Center," said Kris Canekeratne, chairman and CEO of Virtusa.

"Santanu's experience here at Virtusa, coupled with his impressive prior leadership roles, puts him in an excellent position to drive innovation in our growing global delivery operations," he said.

Before joining Virtusa in 2003, Paul served as chief technology officer at Openpages, a firm dealing in corporate risk management products. Paul was also co-founder and chief technology officer at Viveca, a startup acquired by Openpages in 2001.

Earlier in his career, he was a research staff member at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., where his team designed Rainmaker, a novel workflow system that was awarded a U.S. patent.

Paul has a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was a recipient of the prestigious Rackham pre-doctoral fellowship and the IBM Canada fellowship. He has an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology.
