SanDisk intros 64GB retail memory products

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Flash memory solutions vendor SanDisk Corporation launched a range of new memory products, with a focus on retail market.

It introduced three new products - Memory Vault, 64GB Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I card and 64GB Mobile Ultra microSDXC card.

The new Memory Vault, developed using Chronolock technology, incorporates the elements of solid-state storage to create a proprietary memory management solution.

SanDisk says that it had doubled the performance and capacity of its professional-grade imaging line-up to create a new SD card based on the latest SD 3.0 specification’s Ultra High Speed (UHS) bus architecture with the new Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I card. The card features up to 90 megabyte per second (MB/sec)4 write speeds, 95MB/sec read speeds.

UHS-based Mobile Ultra microSDXC card features up to 30MB/sec transfer speeds, offers Class 6 performance and is compatible with tablets and smartphones.

Availability and Pricing

The Memory Vault comes in 8 gigabyte (GB) and 16GB capacities for Rs. 3,499 and Rs 5,499 respectively.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC and SDXC UHS-I cards come in 8GB to 64GB capacities for Rs. 2,199 (8GB)  to Rs. 16,299 (64GB).

SanDisk Mobile Ultra cards come in capacities ranging from 4GB to 64GB for Rs. 899 (4GB)  to Rs 14,799 (64GB).

SanDisk grows 18 per cent Y-o-Y in 2011

SanDisk, which grew 18 per cent Y-o-Y in 2011, said that it has 230,000 retail sales fronts and over 2,800 patents globally.

Clarence Cho, marketing director, Asia Pacific, SanDisk Corporation said that they have fab joint venture with Toshiba to provide low-cost memory solutions.

The company had recently announced 19 Nanometer technology products, touted to be the world’s smallest nods.

Manisha Sood, director and country head, SanDisk India said that flash memory market in India is on rise and is driven by increasing mobile penetration as well as tablets and digicams.

“With our national distributors such as Rashi Peripherals, Ingram Micro, Beetel and HCL, we sell our products through 20,000 retail outlets in India,” she said. The company said that India is a strategic market for them and APAC region contributes 21 per cent to their global revenues.
