Besides the R&D contribution, Samsung is also planning to manufacture premium range phones like Galaxy S6 edge+ in its manufacturing facility at Noida to meet the demands locally. The company has state-of-the-art mobile phone manufacturing units in Noida and has already announced an investment of Rs. 517 crore to ramp up capacity further.

“Staying true to our ‘Make in India’ commitment, the Galaxy S6 edge+ will be manufactured from our Noida facility to meet the demand of the Indian consumers,” said Asim Warsi, Vice President, Marketing, IT & Mobile at Samsung India.

Samsung claims to have more than 40 percent market share in the Indian smartphone market by value (source: GFK data), but has been facing a stiff competition from the homegrown brands that are churning out value for money phones at regular intervals and also from the exclusively available online brands which are eventually eating into its market share.

However, Samsung is trying to strike a balance between its existing offline and online channels as it continues to release phones for price-savvy as well as performance hungry and feature-savvy buyers in the value-for-money as well as premium segments.

Samsung has already released 14 smartphone models in India this year, including the Galaxy S6 edge+ and is expected to release more variants in the existing ranges of smartphones and expand the 4G LTE lineups also.

The smartphone major sees a comparatively high demand in Bangalore for its premium range devices and admits that Karnataka contributes up to 60 percent of its premium range smartphone market share in India.

The newly launched S6 Edge+ just takes a step forward from the Galaxy S6 Edge with a slightly large Quad HD Super AMOLED display of 5.7 inch and boasts of a fast wired and wireless charging technology. It also introduces a Live Broadcast feature, which lets users share live video in Full HD quality straight from the phone to any individual, group of contacts, or even the public through YouTube Live.  The 64-bit octa-core processor with an increased 4GB RAM enables users to enjoy a seamless multi-tasking experience on the phone.

The 32GB variant of the Galaxy S6 edge+ will be available across all retail points from tomorrow in Gold Platinum and an all new Silver Titanium color at a price of Rs. 57,900. An 18-month EMI scheme and exciting pre-book offers are also available till August 31.
