Samsung taps 3G mkt in India with Star Nano 3G

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of Star Nano 3G (S3370), which is claimed to be its most affordable, full touch 3G enabled handset.

Priced at Rs. 7320, Star Nano 3G comes with 35MB internal memory which is expandable up to 16GB, 1.3 megapixel camera, music recognition, FM radio, video recording, English dictionary, mobile tracker, fake call and mobile prayer features, and comes with a 2GB memory card, said Samsung.

It can store up to 2000 contacts on its phonebook and up to 800 SMSs, said a press release.

Speaking at the launch, Ranjit Yadav, director - Mobile & IT, Samsung India Electronics, said the launch of the new handset is significant as it represents Samsung's most affordable 3G touch screen handset.

“Also it strengthens our portfolio of 3G enabled handsets as the country gears up for the roll-out of 3G services very soon,” he added.

Samsung claimed that Star Nano 3G has been designed for Indian consumers to experience an array of benefits such as video streaming, faster data /audio downloads, faster Internet browsing as well as better sound clarity, once 3G services are available in India.

The advanced SNS 2.0 feature of the phone offers users intuitive social communications and allows them to connect with people through social networking sites.

The pop-up SNS feature along with Mail, Photo and Profile Toolbars help users to frequently update their status and carry on conversation with their peer group, said the release.

The phone also has instant chat messenger facilities like GTalk, AIM, Palringo Chat and helps connect friends on one screen with unified messaging service. The users of this handset can also download free applications from Samsung Apps.
