BANGALORE, INDIA: The Galaxy line of smartphones from South Korean electronics giant Samsung seems to have given a big push to the profits of the company.

It has claimed to have sold around 500 handsets every minute. At its Q4 investors guidance, the South Korean company has reportedly said it expects to make $8.3 billion in Q4 profits.

Samsung, said some reports, could pip Apple also due to its impressive line-up of 37 high-end to low-end phones that made their debut in 2012. That dwarfs the only launch from Apple Inc, which was iPhone 5, and other competitors like HTC Corp's 18 models and Nokia's nine.

LG Electronics had launched 24 models, though it is not counted among the major rivals of Samsung.

Samsung, valued at close to $230 billion, is expected to announce its full earnings for the October-December quarter on or before January 25.
