Samsung sends Galaxy Note to India

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Samsung India today launched the Galaxy Note. Claiming to be a revolutionary innovation, the company said it has created a new product category which is a combination of a phone and tablet device. Based on Android 2.3, it has various value-added features.

Ranjit Yadav, country head for Samsung mobile and IT, said it’s a new paradigm. “It’s neither a phone nor a tablet. It’s both,” he said. Yadav said that they have opened up a new category with innovation and smart device users are their target customers.

Priced at Rs 34,990, the Galaxy Note is world’s first and largest 5.3 inch HD Super AMOLED display, the company said. This device also combines an advanced pen-input technology, called the Smart Pen. The digital Smart Pen can be used for artwork and sketch.

The company has also announced the S Choice, a new category menu under the Samsung Apps. The Samsung Galaxy Note enables e-books, PowerPoint presentations and other applications.  In addition, it has included ChatON, a new global mobile communication service.

Asim Warsi, director for Samsung Mobile said that the new revolutionary product offers unique capabilities for content creation and sharing. “It has several handy features that include; palm sweep and palm touch, and has HD recording functionality,” Warsi added.
