NEW DELHI: Samsung India Electronics has launched four new GSM mobile phones in the country. The highlight of the range being introduced is the SGH X600 — a bar mobile phone with rotating camera and integrated flash. The launch comes a week after Chinese phone makes, Kejian entered the Indian market, which is witnessing one of the biggest growth in the mobile sector.

"We are fully committed towards our focus on mobile segment. SGH X600 is the only phone with multi language ‘display and input’ in Hindi, Tamil and Marathi. We are sure that this will fuel the growth of color and the camera phone segment in the Indian market," said President and CEO of South West Asia for Samsung India, Kim Kwang Soo.

The other models being introduced include — SGH S500, SGH X100 and SGH X430. This new range of mobile phones is priced between Rs 8,699 to Rs 14,599 and the company is engaged in talks with different operators to push these products in the market.

The company is bullish about camera attached mobile market and expects to do well with its newly introduced camera phone. It also revealed its target of selling more than 65 million handsets globally. "We expect the color/camera phone segment to grow significantly this year, touching a contribution of about 30 percent of the total market this year. Out of our 65 million handset target, we have already sold over 20 million handsets for this year alone, so we are surely going to meet that figure quite easily," Soo added.

As a part of its increased focus towards mobile segment, the company will be launching 25 different handset models globally and a lot of them are likely to be introduced in India as well. In its bid to have a better positioning of its handsets, the company is going to have a chain of branded stores — Samsung Mobile Plaza and Samsung DigitalHome all over the country that will help in brand building for its mobiles in the region.
