Samsung launches hi-speed Combo drives

NEW DELHI: Samsung Electronics India Information and Telecommunications (SEIIT)

has launched the SM308DE series of the next generation Combo drives. The drives

can operate twice as fast compared to its predecessors and are designed

specifically to give a rich multimedia experience to the consumer.

Priced at Rs 14,000, it is the successor to Samsung's flagship product,

SM-304BE DVD-RW COMBO drive. The SM308DE series combines the read-write feature

of the CD-ROM drive with the quality and storage capacity of the DVD drive. The

power of a 32X CD-ROM drive, 8X DVD drive and a 4X CD-RW is also packed into a

single product.

"The new product is expected to spur the sale of our product in the

Indian market. We already have a 41 per cent share in the ODD market, which we

plan to increase to 54 per cent by the end of this year. At Samsung, our

constant endeavor is to introduce consumer friendly digital products to our

customers who are constantly on the look-out for multifunctional devices. By

incorporating this in our latest offerings, we expect to create an extremely

favorable response to our latest product," said SEIIT director J S Jong on

the launch.
