Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is Rs 39,990 in India

Samsung finally launched the Galaxy Note 2 in India today. Streaming live the event from Hyderabad, Samsung, which priced the new device at Rs 39,990 is expecting to have an edge over the iPhone 5, which is speculated to be priced at Rs. 48,000 in India.

At the launch, filmmaker Imtiyaz Ali said he really liked the air view feature.

"Technology befuddles you, but the stylus pen comes handy here. You just write someone's name on the screen and the phone calls them," he said. He also presented a video shot of the new device.

On the occasion, Samsung also launched the Galaxy camera, which will be available before Diwali.

Not just that, there is more from Samsung. "You can expect a Windows 8 phablet from Samsung," said Asim Warsi, Samsung vice-president.

When asked about Samsung's competitor Apple Inc's iPhone 5, Asim Warsi said that ''Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has taken innovation and productivity to the next level.''

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It has 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, the biggest display in smartphone market. It is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Android operating system, featuring a 1.6GHz Quad-Core processor, 3,100 mAh battery, 2GB RAM, 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera, and HSPA Plus or 4G LTE connectivity.

The phablet comes in Marble White and Titanium Grey colors.

"Galaxy Note 2 will take over the fame of Galaxy Note that opened a new category of smart mobile devices," said Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung's mobile business.

Galaxy Note 2 accessories will include include flip cover, pouch, desktop dock, Bluetooth, stylus Pen and vehicle dock.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can be pre-ordered on Samsung's India e-store for an advance payment of Rs. 5000, while on Snapdeal.com it can be pre-booked for Rs. 1000.
