As per the report, the latest update to Samsung's Always On Display screen adds the ability to embed GIFs on the display. Users can choose from a limited number of AOD-optimised funky GIFs such as animated hearts or cartoon characters.

The GIF, however can’t be too long so you’ll have to trim it in the gallery before using it. It won’t loop automatically as well, the GIF only plays the one time when the display is turned off but you can have it play once more when the display is off by double-tapping on the GIF.

The feature is only available on devices that are running Android 8.0 Oreo. The South Korean manufacturer has released the feature for Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8. The feature also works of Galaxy S9 which comes with Oreo out of the box.
