Salil Parekh joins Capgemini India

MUMBAI: Capgemini has appointed Salil Parekh as executive chairman of India. Earlier he was CEO of North America for Capgemini.

Paul Hermelin, Group CEO, said, "India is a Group priority. The continuing expansion in India and the combination with Kanbay will require the experience and skills that Salil has."

As CEO of North America over the past 2 years, Salil was responsible for the re-structuring and turn-around of Capgemini's business there.

In the new role, Parekh will focus on successfully combining with Kanbay, once the acquisition has been confirmed, establishing India as the largest country operation for Capgemini, and building the local consulting business.

Parekh is a member of the Global Management Board of Capgemini, and has been with company for 14 years, starting with Ernst & Young in 1992, and was part of the consulting business that was acquired by Capgemini in 2000.

He has a Masters degree in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in New York and a Bachelors of Technology degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Powai.
