Saba names new engineering head

MUMBAI: Saba Software, Inc., a provider software services, announced on Thursday the appointment of Vijay Mhaskar as the head of engineering for India.

In his new role, Mhaskar would be based out of Saba's office in Pune and would oversee all R&D functions in India, said a press release.

He would also work closely with Saba's product operations and product development teams located in Redwood Shores, California.

Before joining Saba, Mhaskar served as senior director at Symantec where he was responsible for the Symantec NetBackup engineering group located in Pune, India, it added.

Gaurav Mehra, MD, Saba India said, “Vijay's proven ability to oversee R&D for industry-leading products will help Saba continue to deliver innovative, unified people management solutions to market. We look forward to working with Vijay to continue to build our engineering operations and support our global customers.”

Mhaskar also spent 10 years in the U.S. in senior engineering roles with NCR and Sun Microsystems.

He holds a B.E. in electrical engineering from the University of Mumbai and an M. Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Mumbai, the release added.
