While email and the Web are essential tools for businesses worldwide, they also are the most common entry points for malware into corporate networks.

Purewire and Reflexion would provide powerful hosted defenses against Web and email security threats in a manner that is easy to deploy and use, and tailored to the needs of solution providers who serve SMB clients, said a press release.

The companies are engaged in joint sales and marketing activities to bring solution providers and SMB customers security services that protect against email and Web threats.

Solution providers now can turn to Reflexion for unified billing and support for email security, email archiving, eDiscovery and Web security, reducing vendor management and simplifying internal operations.

“Security-as-a-Service, or SaaS, is the ideal delivery model for the SMB market,” said Mike Van Bruinisse, president, CEO and co-founder of Purewire.

He further said that there’s no hardware or software to install or maintain, the service is always up-to-date automatically, and the subscription price makes for predictable price planning. The Purewire Web Security Service offers Reflexion partners an expansive suite of hosted solutions to protect their clients and grow their businesses.

Purewire’s SaaS-based Web security service inspects outbound Web traffic for safety and compliance and analyzes Web site response traffic for malicious programs and untrustworthy users.

Purewire services can be deployed entirely in the cloud or in a hybrid configuration with an on-premise Web gateway, the release said.

The company offers managed service providers and channel partners a white-label option for branding the Web security service.

“It’s important that our users, many of whom work remotely on laptops or other mobile devices, are protected from email and Web-based attacks,” said Kevin Carlson, CTO, Telos IT.

“Implementing a comprehensive, hosted security solution from Reflexion, including SaaS Web security from Purewire, allows our IT department to set security policies for all users, without sacrificing bandwidth, and extend that out to our customers,” he added.
