Ruckus unveils smart Wi-Fi system

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Ruckus Wireless, a supplier of wireless systems for mobile networking market, has come up with ZoneDirector 5000 platform and ZonweFlex Software system. It facilitates enterprises and service providers to scale Wi-Fi to 20,000 clients per controller as well as 500 clients per access point.

The company serves the enterprise WLAN and carrier Wi-Fi markets, and claims that it has competitive advantage over its competitors that include Aruba, Meru Networks and Cisco.

Chris Yip, director (marketing) at Ruckus Wireless APAC said, "We can reduce the number of access points by 30 per cent as compared to our competitors."

The company said its ZoneDirector 5000 is the industry's first controller-based system that can be deployed either in-line, or out-of-the-data path, supporting upto 20,000 clients, 1,000 access points, 2,048 wireless LANs and 1,000 tunneled connections within a single platform.

Ruckus has also increased the client capacity of its ZoneFlex dual-band 802.11n APs to support 512 concurrent devices that make an ideal Wi-Fi solution. "Wi-Fi is not considered reliable, especially in enterprise sector and has some pain points but the multiple beam patterns facilitate reliability," said Sudarshan Boosupalli, GM- India and SAARC at Ruckus Wireless.

Selina Lo, president and CEO of Ruckus Wireless said, "Given the unstoppable move to mobile Internet devices and applications, dealing with user density and scalability is quickly becoming a point of contention for enterprises and service providers."
