Rolta acquires PCI Geomatics licenses

MUMBAI, INDIA: Rolta, a provider of geo-spatial and IT solutions, today announced that it has has entered into a definitive agreement with PCI Geomatics Enterprises, Inc. of Canada to acquire geo-imaging technology used in earth imaging, remote sensing and related geopositioning solutions from Canada-based PCI Geomatics Enterprises.

Rolta said it has acquired licenses of PCI's geo-imaging technologies, including source code, design and software architecture, exclusively for India and non-exclusively throughout the rest of the world.

In combination with Rolta’s own offerings in photogrammetric mapping and related applications, Rolta will now be able to offer world-class solutions for processing stereo and mono satellite imagery in areas such as environmental modeling, forestry and natural resources, emergency planning and management, agriculture, security and defense, claimed the company.

“This will enable us to offer world-class end-to-end solutions to our customers globally for applications in mapping and earth sciences, and to provide enterprise-level integration of their organizations’ spatial and non-spatial data through Rolta GeospatialFusion,” he added.

With this acquisition, Rolta will now be able to offer solutions for processing stereo and mono satellite imagery in areas like environmental modeling, forestry and natural resources, emergency planning and management, agriculture, security and defence.

Mumbai-based Rolta offers mapping and related applications, while PCI is a market leader in the geoimaging segment, with an installed base of 400 licenses in India, and over 21,000 licenses in more than 135 countries world-wide, Rolta said in a press release.
