RoadMetrics – World’s first startup mapping road conditions at scale!

RoadMetrics is on a mission to eliminate bad road conditions. Bad road conditions is a problem that’s faced throughout the world, more in some countries.

“Road degradation is inevitable and until recently, roads were monitored manually. Technology has now enabled us to map road conditions at scale!”, said Nikhil Prasad Maroli, Co-Founder at RoadMetrics.

Using image and sensor (accelerometer and gyroscope) data that can be obtained using a simple smartphone, their ground fleet is able to use Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to classify all types of road defects. With their navigation app they are able to warn users of impending danger zones and rough conditions and by crowdsourcing sensor data, their road conditions map will be updated real-time and comprehensive.

In India, approximately 15 humans lose their lives daily due to severe road conditions. At present, government bodies across India have no technology that can efficiently monitor its road infrastructure. From metro cities to the rest of India, our goal is to deliver RoadMetrics technology to make the road infrastructure of India better and safer.
