MUMBAI: Rhombus, a UAE-based computer hardware manufacturing company, has entered India setting up liaison offices in Mumbai and Delhi. The company manufactures a range of computer products which includes motherboards, monitors, display cards, cabinets, speakers, keyboards, optical drives, digital cameras, scanners and barebone notebooks.

In India the company would be focusing distribution of cabinets, keyboards, mice, digital cameras and scanners.

According to Vishal Malhotra, who heads the Mumbai office, the company is currently in the process of putting the infrastructure and channels in place. "We have selected Comnet of New Delhi to distribute our products in the North. Very soon we will be appointing a distributor in Mumbai as well," said Malhotra.

With its manufacturing base in China and Taiwan, the company has been catering to the Far-East, South Africa and CIS countries through its Jebel Ali operations in UAE for the last three years. Malhotra said, "With competitive pricing, we are sure to create an effective presence in India as well."

According to the company, its presence in the UAE gives them an advantage of shipping goods in 3-4 days compared to other vendors distributing in India who ships goods from Singapore which takes them about seven days.

"We will also give our distributors the advantage of shipping directly from UAE with the provision of mixed containers that can have more than one product in one container," he added.

With respect to support, Malhotra claimed, "It will be the best with maximum 48 hours turnaround time. For cabinets we will give over-the-counter replacements."
