NEW DELHI: US based Reveleus — an i-flex business unit is betting big on
business intelligence (BI). The company has outlined its strategy to focus on
the Indian market segment for marketing its metadata based BI product.
“India is a huge market for us and analysts claims that the overall size of
BI market is at around $15 million. This market in India will grow at a CAGR of
over 30 per cent between 2001 and 2008. It’s a big opportunity for us and not
many players are addressing this area,” informed S Ramakrishnan, CEO, Reveleus.
BI may mean different things to different people. Consequently, it is useful
to have a common working definition of this sometimes-misunderstood concept. BI
includes software applications, technologies and analytical methodologies that
perform data analysis. It also includes data mining, web mining, text mining,
reporting and querying and data visualization.
As far as Indian market is concerned, Reveleus already has HDFC as one of its
customers and is engaged in talks with some nationalized banks as well. “Our
BI product is ideally suited to organizations having big distributed network of
branches. We can’t name the organizations as of now but we are engaged in
talks with them, “Ramakrishnan added.
Presently the company has 16 customers for its BI solution and this number
will increase as it engages itself into the Indian market aggressively.
