Renesas Tech Corp launched in Asia

NEW DELHI: Renesas Technology Corp. has announced the integration of the semiconductor divisions of Hitachi and Mitsubishi to become the world's biggest, Large Scale Integration (LSI) company. The divisions that have been integrated are Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai and Singapore.



Dr. Koichi Nagasawa has been appointed Chairman and CEO, and Satoru Ito has been appointed as President & COO.

The new unified brand, RENESAS is derived from Renaissance Semiconductor for Advanced Solutions.



This integration would become applicable to the Indian entities of Hitachi and Mitsubishi with effect from July 1, 2003. Currently a group of representative offices under Hitachi Asia Ltd and designated distributors from both Hitachi and Mitsubishi channels service the Indian market.

Renesas considers India as an important market in APAC region and plans to work with and develop a strong vendor network in the country. The company also plans to enhance its service network with specialized engineering, sales and marketing teams.

Renesas Technology portfolio offers a full lineup of microcomputers, memories, multi purpose Integrated Circuits (ICs), application specific ICs and discrete semiconductors based on high-level R&D, and technologies covering design, applications, production, and processes.





The integration of operations in North America, Asia and the European regions was completed on April 1, 2003. Two separate companies Renesas Technology America, Inc. and Renesas Technology Europe Limited were thus established.
