Renault embarks on virtual journey to drive sales

Besides a mobile app, Renault has also set up a virtual showroom in Delhi, scheduled to go live on September 14

MUMBAI, INDIA: French carmaker Renault is releasing a mobile application and set up a virtual showroom in Delhi to drive sales.

The company is going virtual with its upcoming entry-level car Kwid. Besides tech specifications, Renault will also display information about the car fares against competition on the app, scheduled to go live on September 14.

The virtual showroom has the capacity to respond to 50 queries at a go either via video conferencing or chat.

According to a report in Economic Times, more than 100 people have been dedicated to execute the virtual showroom, which has been borrowed from Renault's global platform and is expected to stay live for at least three months.

"We are leveraging technology platform to offer an innovative virtual experience. It will help us reach out to more people through the Web," ET quoted Sumit Sawhney, Managing Director and Chief Executive, Renault India.

"The virtual showroom will not help in understanding the product better but also help us in transacting better with help of an app."

Going forward, the company will cater to servicing needs of buyers through mobile showrooms and workshops.
