BANGALORE: Reliance Infocomm, the telecom arm of Reliance, is planning to launch its pre-paid service for mobile users tomorrow, 9th February 2004.
With a subscriber base of over six million for its CDMA telecommunication service of both fixed and mobile, Reliance will become the first pre-paid service provider in the CDMA space. Its competitors in the mobile space, the GSM service providers, have more than 50% of their subscribers in the pre-paid service.
India is one of the fastest growing market in the mobile sector with GSM and CDMA services. It is projected to touch 50 million users by this year.
CIOL had recently reported that the private telecom service provider major is launching its pre-paid service with denominations of Rs200 with talk time of Rs135. However subscribers have to buy a new mobile to get connected with the pre-paid service.
It was reported that the launch was slated for February 14th, however sources reveal that, the launch has been advanced to February 9th.
