BANGALORE, INDIA: Reliance Communication today unveiled new schemes to promote the usage of mobile Internet services by laptop users in India.

Reliance Communication has introduced a bundled mobile Internet data card offering under which Reliance NetConnect customers would be able to avail of a free data card.

At a media briefing, SP Shukla, president, personal business, Reliance Communications said, “Today two million use laptop without data cards i.e., 80 per cent of the laptop users. We want to introduce mobile Internet to every laptop user in the country, who can access Internet on move.”

“The company has slashed prices and offers free data cards to Reliance NetConnect customer. The facility is also made available for the new laptop buyers, where they can avail a free data card. They have tied up with vendors such as HP, Lenovo, HCL and Acer,” he added.

Reliance gives customers the flexibility to choose from wide range of options, which include free data card for 12 months subscription or 24 months subscription. Freedom plans offers free usage of one GB every month while Swift 40 plan offers 40 hours of free usage every month.

“Reliance provides for both prepaid and post paid services. Reliance offers USB data cards for Rs 2850 and PCMCIA data card for Rs 2990, which is 28 per cent lower than the current prices,” Shukla said.

This service is available for laptop users as well as PC users. Pre paid services for Laptop is introduced for the first time in India, Shukla informed.

With over 10 million NetConnect enabled handsets being used by Reliance Mobile customers across the country, these offerings allows existing customers to access the internet anytime and anywhere using their mobile phones while creating a future customer for Reliance data cards.
