Reliance Info to hire 2500 in Bengal

WEST BENGAL: Reliance Info Solution is planning to set up its development center, its first outside Mumbai in West Bengal, which will have 2,500 people.

Reliance Group CMD Mukesh Ambani informed this while delivering the keynote address at Infocom 2004, the Nasscom's 3rd annual event for the eastern region. The company has so far invested Rs 1,000 crore in West Bengal.





Ambani also said that Reliance is also planning to set up its submarine landing station in Haldia soon. "The company will also set up Dhirubhai Ambani Institute Of Communication and Technology in Kolkata, second after the center in Ahmedabad," he added.

Earlier in February 2004, Reliance had announced Rs 1,200 crore in planned fresh funding in West Bengal, of which Infocom's share was Rs 800 crore. The new Infocom ventures included a 3,000-seat call centre in Salt Lake, an Internet data center, a media convergent note and a large software development center. Two knowledge centers for training are also on the offing.
